I've put together this list of high quality content ideas so that you can keep up your momentum even if your motivation is down or time is short. Save this post for later, or even better, produce the content itself and it'll be ready in our drafts when you need it!
1. Simple Tips Series
Break down some of your extensive and specialist knowledge into tiny tips to drip-feed out to your audience. Help them build trust in you as an expert, and create a sense of momentum by having a routine (i.e. every Saturday you add a new tip).
2. Client Success Stories
Share the authentic words of stories of clients who have really benefited from your offering (product or service). If possible, include images and user-generated content (their own words).
3. Behind-the-Scenes Content
Show us who you are! It doesn't have to be perfect or polished...
What does your space look like?
Are any pets there with you?
What's the view out of your window?
4 . Re-Introduce Yourself
Share as much as you feel comfortable with - showing your face is always nice to create connection, but if you don't want to do that, how can you get creative with an alternative?
5. Expert Interviews
If you can get a bespoke interview then amazing, but if not then you can share a clip or long form quote from an industry expert who you agree with. Tag and credit them, of course!
6. Show Us Your Tools
What do you use to create your work? This is perhaps more obvious if you're an artist or maker, but if you're more digital or service based you can share things too. I might share my notebook and favourite mug! A therapist might show their room, or any little touches they've added to make the space feel nice for clients. A PT or yogi could show their mat, blocks or weights. Talk us through the things you couldn't do your job without...
7. Answer Some FAQs
Address frequently asked questions from clients and customers - this shows that you understand and listen to your audience. Confused people generally don't make purchases!
8. Make A Timelapse Video of You Working
A simple piece of video content to create is a timelapse, slow-mo, or even just a long form video of you going about your business! Create a few of these and use text over them, or just save them for when you've got a more abstract caption.
9. Share Some Inspiring Data or Statistics
Include percentages or high figure success stories in your storytelling. They can be yours directly, or industry research. A spa or sauna business might say: '76% of people felt more relaxed on a Sunday evening having done a sauna session.' Research the data and quote the source.
10. Product Spotlights
Devote posts to specific products or services, sprinkled in amongst lots of less sales-y content. Perhaps choose one a month to begin with, ie. 'January Product Spotlight'.
11. Talk About Your Business Values
Sharing what matters to you helps your audience decide whether they're a good fit for your work, especially if you're in a service based business. However, this definitely applied to product based businesses too.
12. Share Something You're Excited About
Whether it's a new product, an event coming up, a networking session, your new desk setup, your bestie coming to visit, the sun shining outside, a new album or film... if you're passionate about it, share the love! If it's really industry relevant, put it everywhere, otherwise, drop it in your stories!
13. Book or Resource Recommendations
Share a list of valuable books, podcasts, or websites that you've been inspired by or learnt from. This is a value-add for your community, and shows them whose ideas you align yourself with.
14. Share How You Unwind After Work
A little insight into how you relax - this can add a nice variety to your content, but be aware of not going too far off-brand if sharing on your grid! I share a lot of wellness and mindset content, but occasionally will also share snippets from the gym or live music etc.
15. Collaborate with Local Businesses
Tagging other accounts is great for all involved, so think about other businesses you engage with. This could be a supplier, customer, local cafe or shop, weekend place you visit, product you use... once you start thinking about it, brand connections are everywhere!
16. Share A Relatable Quote
Something short and snappy that your niche community will relate to! Think about the quote graphic posts that you smile at, and consider saving them to share in your own way another time. If it resonates with you, it's reinforcing your brand voice when you share it.
Tell Your Audience About A Lesson You Learnt
If you can be a bit vulnerable and talk your audience through a lesson you learnt, this can be an amazing way to connect and show your personal experience, and consequent growth and expertise. Just be aware that you're not undermining their trust in you - small, relatable mistakes or ones that are far in the past work the best.
18. Run An Offer Or Giveaway
All businesses can incorporate an offer into their pricing if they need to. It could be a product or experience giveaway, or a discount on a service. Start small if you're not feeling super confident on this, and look at how other brands have done it successfully.
Debunk A Myth About Your Industry
Set the record straight by addressing misconceptions - this builds trust (just make sure you're accurate!) Our curiosity is always piques when we read 'the truth about...' style captions, but just make sure it still feels authentic to you and not forced. If it isn't how you'd normally speak, perhaps reword it. 'I was really surprised when I discovered that...'
20. Share Your Gratitude Lists for the Day/Week/Month
Make a daily gratitude of three things and share them with your community! Raising the vibration and giving them an insight into your life and work.
