My nature writing guide is featured in this month’s BBC Wildlife Magazine, available from 2nd May 2024!
In it I talk about:
Cultivating a habit of nature journaling which attunes us to our environment in a different way.
Inspiring awe and gratitude, which are known to boost our wellbeing and mental health.
Connecting to all types of nature, subtle and dramatic. You. can practice nature writing in your local park as well as more extreme or traditionally 'beautiful' landscapes.
Nature as metaphor - evolving, growth, life cycles, changes in state. We can see a lot of our human emotions reflected in the natural processes around us.
Creating 'space for self' and combining the practice with mindfulness.
Sensory noticing; connecting to the place using more than just your eyes...
I also give a few starting prompts that you can respond to:
What is the smallest thing you can see?
How long has this environment been here?
What might have changed by tomorrow?
How do different elements of this place interact with each other?
What do you like here?
Is there anything you don’t like?
Note down anything that you’d like to learn more about.
To read the full article, you can purchase the magazine online or in print (personally I LOVE a print version). It would be wonderful to hear what you think, and let me know if you have been inspired to try taking up your pen and paper on your next venture out into your local park, woodlands, fields or coastal area.
